We Return!

Yes, its been a little while since our last show, but we’re taking the new year with a vengeance. We play tomorrow night (that’s Friday) at the Brillobox. We’ll be playing some new tunes as well as playing behind Molly Alphabet as she debuts her new CD. Also the very talented Pete Bush will be joining us on bass. Featuring additional awesomeness from City Dwelling Nature Seekers and The Slow Reel. Everything is new. Anything is possible. Get Pumped.

Goodnight 2011…

Happy New Year.  2011, you’ve been a good year for The Big Bend — we played tons of great shows with tons of great bands, released the album “For Everyone,” and capped it all off by being named as one of WYEP’s Top 5 local bands! Check it out: http://www.wyep.org/music/yir/2011/local/

So many thanks to everyone who came out to a show, or bought a CD, or said something nice, or any of the many other things that make being a musician awesome.  We appreciate it.

Now, onward to 2012!

Some News n’ At

Hey we had a blast playin w/ Nik and The Central Plains Friday! It was drunk and crazy, and Dan sat in a chair on stage the whole night and melted everyone’s face off. Next up: Playin’ at Howler’s with The Slow Reel on Oct 6th…OH and cool photos from Rock The Block are up!

Our Daniel’s Back and You’re Gonna be Sorry…

Hey La, Hey La, we’re gonna be playing at Thunderbird! And our guitarist Dan “Calcium Deficiency”  Dickison will be there despite his broken hip, rocking out in a chair. Come out and see him and wish him well! Note: He’s still in a precarious state of recovery, so don’t bump into him or CVBB will have to bring some crazy Altamont type shit down on your ass. Just sayin.

Also making his glorious return to the Steel City, is the mythic-sweed-folk-blues-twang-rocker Nik Westman (and his centralized plains.)  It’s gonna be awesome. BE THERE.

The Way It Goes | danieldickison

Dan and Chet covering a sweet song.

Hey thanks to all for coming out and watching us at WYEP’s Rock the Block. The show was great, and we had a blast and are still reeling from all the sweet free stuff we ate and drank! Extra thanks to Greg DeCarolis for doing such an amazing job filling in for Dan on guitar as he recovers from his hip-injury!

In other news we got a nice little blurb-type-review from JP’s Music Blog - check it out here!

Rock the Block!

That’s right folks, this Saturday we will be playing at WYEP’s own Rock the Block as the opening act for Fountains of Wayne. Block Rocking is scheduled to begin at 8pm at The WYEP Community Broadcast Center & Bedford Square.

So this isn’t exactly band related…but it’s not like it’s NOT band related. Here we offer a little bit of classic Tad and his masterful scare-tactics from a Big Bend “photo shoot.” As you can imagine, we didn’t really end up with a lot of usable pictures. We do however, have this. ENJOY!

New Show at Thunderbird

Hello there all loyal Big Bend enthusiasts (we’re still working on a good name for our fans, but we’re taking suggestions - there’s a free shirt or CD if you think of something particularly awesome).

We are returning from our short post-CD-release-hiatus this Saturday (July 16th) with a show at Pittsburgh’s home of the blues: The Thunderbird Cafe.

This will feature local band Grand Piano (formally Thistletown) as well as Akron natives the Shivering Timbers. Word on the street is Dan Auerbach (of Black Keys fame) produced their first album. Which as they say, is kinda a big deal.

Bands start at 10pm (that’s the real time too).

you can check em out at:

Also, if you read this post you’ve already singed yourself into a contractual obligation to be there. Sorry.
